The Caserta Hospital opens a solidarity library

With the aim of guaranteeing complete support to cancer patients, paying attention to their physical and mental well-being, the“Sant’Anna and San Sebastiano” Hospital Company of Caserta inaugurated a solidarity library this morning.

This important resource was set up in the waiting room of the Medical Oncology Operating Unit, under the direction of Prof. Michele Orditura.

The initiative was born thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Red Cross Committee of Caserta, as part of an agreement stipulated with the AORN “Sant’Anna and San Sebastiano”. The objective is to offer voluntary psycho-social support to Oncology patients and Emergency Room patients.

The Association will provide both the furnishings and the books, and will manage the service on odd days. The presence of a library inside the hospital represents a symbolic gesture of welcome and humanization, as underlined by the Health Management of the Caserta Hospital, represented by Doctor Angela Annecchiarico.

The Health Director and Prof. Orditura highlighted the importance and value of constant collaboration with third sector associations, as this allows the needs of patients and their families to be addressed more adequately.

The mayor of Caserta, Carlo Marinoparticipated with the councilor Vincenzo Claudio Battarra at the inauguration ceremony, underlining the central role of culture as the glue of a community that identifies itself through values ​​of brotherhood and humanity.

This message was reiterated by the president of the Caserta Committee of the Italian Red Cross, Teresa Nataleand by the president of the Campania Regional Committee, Stefano Tangrediboth inspired by the principle of humanity in their associative mission.

The blessing of the library was carried out by the director of the Diocesan Pastoral of Caserta, Don Antonelloin the presence of the medical and nursing staff of the Oncology UOC and a representative of the Italian Red Cross organization team.

This event represents an important step forward in promoting and spreading culture, which is conveyed through a library, within the Caserta community.
