Opportunity steals / Concert from the Balcony

Every Saturday the entire Rossini opera repertoire is performed with a special series of 39 concerts from the balcony of Gioachino Rossini’s birthplace, each dedicated to an opera by the composer from Pesaro, performed by former students of the Rossinian Academy “Alberto Zedda”.

This time extracts from the Turkish in Italya comic drama in two acts with a libretto by Felice Romani performed for the first time at the Teatro alla Scala on 14 August 1814.

The protagonist singers of the concert will be Iolanda Massimo (soprano), Francesco Auriemma (baritone) and Omar Cepparolli (bass), accompanied by the pianist Donatella Dorsi. On the program is Don Geronio’s Cavatina «I’m going in search of a Gypsy», proposed by Francesco Auriemma; Fiorilla’s Cavatina «Non si da Sicurezza massimo», sung by Iolanda Massimo; the Don Geronio-Selim Duet «D’un bell’uso di Turkey», performed by Francesco Auriemma and Omar Cepparolli.

The project is carried out in collaboration with Municipality of Pesaro, Pescheria Foundation, Rossini Foundation and G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra.
