Inspired by the punk designer Vivienne Westwood, who passed away in 2022, discarded garments were used to create the clothes while respecting the environment
The project carried out by the students of the third class R fashion direction of the Carlo Rambaldi Institute of Lamezia Terme has been concluded. The collaboration between the school and the APS Samarcanda association was born as an activity of PCTO, former School-Work Alternation.
The setting chosen for the final event was that of the Ancient Mill of the Fairies on the occasion of the European Days of Historic Mills.
The project was inspired by punk designer Vivienne Westwood, who passed away in 2022; for the creation of the clothes, discarded garments were used to respect the environment, an educational value which was given emphasis by exploring the theme of eco-sustainability through creative recycling activities. It should also be noted that a dress dedicated to the fairy Gelsomina was also created, representing the soul of the Antico Mulino nestled in the woods of the historic district of San Teodoro.
Disused clothes and accessories were donated by the Mercatino Franchising and the Senza Nodi Aps Association.
The teachers Francesca Tripodi, Luca Cardone and Francesco Venuti also collaborated as internal tutor, for the Samarcanda Aps Association the president Manuelita Iacopetta as external tutor.
Parents, students and enthusiasts of the Antico Mulino attended the parade as well as the head teacher Anna Primavera who expressed appreciation for the work and praised the students and teachers.
