Olga Strantzali, a Greek spiker born in 1996, will strengthen the four-man squad for next season. The twenty-eight year old athlete has played the last two seasons in her homeland, wearing the shirts of Paok and AEK Athens. Now for her a new adventure in the Italian championship with the shirt of Board of Volley Talmassons Fvg.
“I’m really excited to return to Italy, as it is the most competitive championship in the world. When my manager told me about the board’s offer, I didn’t want to wait any longer. It all happened very quickly and I’m happy about it.”
How do you judge the team’s growth path?
“I watched some playoff games. They really deserved to advance in the semi-final against Messina. Against Busto Arisizio, then, they demonstrated that they were worth the jump in category. I want to congratulate all the players who achieved this historic promotion, they were truly extraordinary.”
What goals have you set for next season?
“I have always believed that individual goals go hand in hand with those of the team. I just want to help the team achieve its goals and be a point of reference for my teammates. Naturally, on an individual level I want to have a good season and improve even further with the help of coach Barbieri.”
What do you expect from the Friulian environment?
“I hope to be in a place where people love volleyball and are very excited to face this first historic season in Serie A1. For me it is important to be surrounded by people who make you feel at home and support you throughout the season.”
What are your characteristics?
“I want to be important to the team in any way I can. I am a player with strong offensive skills, I can certainly have my say in attack. In these years of my career I have accumulated a lot of experience playing in high-level European clubs. I also know Serie A1 and this will certainly be helpful for a newly promoted team like Cda Volley Talmassons Fvg. I will give my all to ensure that the team reaches the goal of salvation first and foremost. Being an ambitious person, however, I don’t want to set limits and work to get as high as possible. Even if it will be our first championship in the top flight, we must not set limits.”
What message do you want to send to the fans of Cda Volley Talmassons Fvg?
“I just want to say hello to everyone and look forward to meeting them on the pitch soon. I promise them that we will give our best in every match. I hope that it will be a successful season for them too.”
