The 2024 edition of “Morsi & Sorsi di libri”, the promoted cultural and literary review, is back
at Porta Nuova from ‘bites & sips… of Sicily’ and Lillo Gesone with Libera Marsala Circolo “Vito Pipitone”, Libreria Mondadori and “Il Rumore delle idee”.
Five meetings from 20 May to 21 June 2024, in which the authoritative voices of investigative television journalism, politics and Italian current affairs present their latest editorial works.
It starts on Monday 20 May exceptionally at 9.00 pm, with Sigfrido Ranucci, face of Report broadcast on Raitre. Ranucci will present his latest novel “La Selection” (published by Bompiani). Together with his Report team, he dedicates himself every day to sifting information, connecting events, listening to voices to decide how to tell the news that someone would like to remain silent. The strength of Report is in the simplicity of the choice: offering citizens the raw story of the facts through rigorous research, even when the road is fraught with dangers that affect the personal lives of journalists.
For the first time Ranucci talks about the path that led him here; he does so by choosing some fundamental investigations of which he reveals the background, but also by evoking figures – such as his father, an athlete and financier of great charisma, and his teacher Roberto Morrione, founder of Rai News 24 – who forged in him the ability to bring every choice to the end: because doing journalism in the field means making decisions that change the course of things forever, in an intimate and collective sense. From these pages emerges the courageous self-portrait of a man who, despite the constant pressure of reality in its harshest aspects, does not give in to cynicism, does not stop wondering and asking us: “What is the right choice?”. And to find the answer every time, to respect the promise that binds him to an audience that still cares about legality and social justice.
