Damiano Carrara won the latest edition of Beijing Express paired with his brother Massimiliano. Certainly two of the strongest competitors who have traveled The Dragon’s Route but also among those who received the greatest number of criticisms. There are those who have accused Carrara of being too competitive, often using expressions that are anything but happy, and the representative of the Pastry Chefs has decided to have his say in this regard, sharing a long post on Instagram a week after the proclamation.
Damiano Carrara “hurt” by criticism after Beijing Express
It was a triumph for the Pastry Chefs a Beijing Express 2024. The final, followed closely by the public and broadcast last Thursday, saw the dream of Damiano Carrara and his brother Massimiliano come true who, from the beginning of the long and difficult journey of The Dragon’s Routethey showed a lot of willpower and a very strong spirit of competition. The same one that led them to surprisingly eliminate I Caressa, when they professed to be their friends, and which sparked criticism that never ended up on the web.
From that moment on, at every episode they were targeted by an audience who was increasingly dissatisfied with their attitude but who, according to Damiano Carrara, exaggerated resulting in personal insult, well beyond the game. It is for this reason that, a week after the broadcast of the final, she decided to have her say on Instagram by sharing a long post: “I still hadn’t written anything after the final Of Beijing Express because I wanted to take a moment to say the most important thing: THANK YOU”, he began by underlining that he had lived “an unimaginable experience” with an “incredible team of professionals”.
Then the sore point, that of criticism: “I would like to take this opportunity for a moment of reflection regarding something that I have found myself experiencing in recent months: unfortunately I have read comments which, let me tell you, they hurt and saddened me because they went beyond the game and beyond the race. Certain words, certain terms weigh heavily, even on those close to us, such as our family, who suffered in a particular way. Perhaps at home we sometimes forget that, as wonderful as it is, it is a TV programme, a game and a competition with charitable aims in any case… But above all that behind our phones there are people made of flesh, soul and heart ”.
A message which for the chef is not intended to be “justifying oneself or seeking approval”, but rather “food for thought for everyone” which “can be useful for raise awareness on the issue of aggression that we sometimes live on the web.”
Damiano Carrara and the experience at Beijing Express
Despite the criticism and hatred on social media, which every well-known (and not so well-known) figure now has to deal with on a daily basis, Damiano Carrara wanted to highlight the beautiful and positive things he experienced in Beijing Express 2024 in the company of his brother Massimiliano, with whom he achieved victory.
“We have never hurt or disrespected anyonewe have always tried to reciprocate the hospitality received by cooking or busying ourselves in the homes of the many people we know who, from Vietnam to Laos to Sri Lanka, we will always carry with us and who we still hear from on a daily basis and who have sent us these wonderful shots – he wrote – . We experienced the trip to the fullenjoying the beauty of the places and moments together with the other competitors, even if we couldn’t see everything.”
Finally two special dedications, first of all to wife Chiara Maggenti who is expecting their first daughter (the birth is expected in August) and then to Massimiliano, with whom she shared this difficult journey and who she defined as “the best traveling companion ever”.
