Fiction: Fresh off the press and returning from the Turin International Book Fair, “The Island of Animals” arrives in Bisceglie, a novel that is also a graphic novel.
Friday 17 May 2024 at 7 pm the children’s bookshop Take Luna Circus located in via Tupputi 21 to Bisceglie is happy to present “The island of animals” (published by Sabir Editore) by Malusa Kosgran in the company of Elena and Maria of the R. Monterisi secondary school in Bisceglie. Entrance is free and there is no need to book.
The protagonist of “The island of animals” His name is Arturo Pace and he is an introverted and special 14-year-old boy who uses comics to understand and transform reality. In the fiction, Arturo draws the episodes of the graphic novel which alternate with the literary chapters contained in Kosgran’s novel: each comic page tells what happens on the island on which Arturo lives, the dreams, the desires, the fears. The protagonists of his plots are his relatives, his schoolmates, the real people who live on his island: the ice cream seller, the greengrocer, the school principal, his parents. And Stella Errera, the 15-year-old girl that Arturo considers unattainable. Malusa Kosgran is the author of several short stories and novels (“Banks of fog”, “Not even a word of love”, “The first woman”, “While waiting for the others we broadcast dance music”,“14”, “Mariuccio”).
