PISTOIA – In Saturnana, in the churchyard of the parish church of San Giovanni, May 18th at 4.30 pm is celebrated with popular songs typical of the Tuscan tradition performed by the Tuscan.

The afternoon, which includes a snack offered to all participants starting from 5.30 pm, is organized with the association for the Saturnana Laboratory, the Arci village club and the parish, as well as with the support of the Coop members section of Pistoia.

The underlying theme of the afternoon will be love songs, songs, respects, contrasts, ditties and nursery rhymes, idioms, customs and professions that have disappeared: the mirror of a profound and genuine culture handed down by oral tradition and linked to a now lost time where the life flowed with the rhythms and times decided by nature.

The musical group Toscanto is made up of Michela “Joan” Bacci (lead vocals), Maurizio Benvenuti (acoustic bass, lead vocals, backing vocals), Andrea Geri (diatonic accordion, percussion) and Luca Vivarelli (acoustic guitar, percussion).

He has worked for many years in the field of traditional music and performs songs coming mostly from the Pistoia mountains, but also from Valdarno, Mugello, Chianti, Pescia and the provinces of Pisa and Siena.

Who says ill of me is the title, alluding to some dialectal expressions of the rural world, of the first CD recorded by Toscanto, performed by setting to music the songs transcribed in the elementary school notebooks exhibited in an exhibition in 1929, on the occasion of the celebration of the definitive constitution of the Province of Pistoia.
