Another international record for the Sant’Anna High School of Pisawhich is first in Italy and 13th in the world in Times Higher Education Young University Rankings, the world ranking of the best young universities, i.e. those founded less than 50 years ago, just released by Times Higher Education.

Sant’Anna gains 6 positions

Sant’Anna has gained six positions compared to the similar ranking in 2023, rising from 19th to 13th place in the world by 2024 and confirming first position in Italy, country for which 19 universities are present in the ranking, and also gaining three positions in Europe, where it is seventh.

“I am very happy with the result of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna – comments the rector Sabina Nutia clear improvement compared to last year, in an increasingly demanding and challenging international competitive context. A big thank you to our entire community for the great work done by all the components, for cutting-edge research and for excellent training in the Social Sciences and Experimental Sciences”.

673 universities in the ranking

The Sant’Anna High School, founded in 1987, it has therefore improved its overall positioning in the face of a global scenario that has seen competitiveness increase. As Times Higher Education analysts point out, in fact, 605 universities were evaluated for the ranking of “young universities” in 2023, while for 2024 they rose to 673, coming from 79 countries. At a global level, the 2024 ranking continues to certify the success of the universities in Hong Kong – and more generally in Asia – which occupy five positions in the top ten.

As for the indicators, Times Higher Education analysts followed the same ones used for the general ranking, assigning less weight to just notoriety and reputation. The choice was justified by the “young age” of the universities evaluated. Related to training, research, international openness, technological transfer and impact on societyTimes Higher Education maintained the “same rigorous parameters” as the overall rankings.
