The wave of bad weather that is putting the entire Veneto in difficulty has also dumped exceptional quantities of rain on the city of Padua. In fact, during the night, an average of almost 90mm of rain fell in the heaviest 3 hours, causing rising watercourses and widespread flooding.

Difficult situations in several flooded streets and underpasses, but the water did not spare even homes and underground rooms, taverns and garages. Many interventions were carried out during the night and this morning by teams of the Fire Brigade, Civil Protection and Local Police of Padua, where all the teams are still operational and are handling many calls. In some areas of the city there is no power due to system failures or as a precaution.

The situation of the rivers is also particularly worrying, with the Bacchiglione having exceeded the 6m mark in Vicenza and which is expected to flood through Padua, already at risk due to the high levels of the canals and ditches and the local drainage network in difficulty.

The emergency table of the Municipal Operations Center was therefore opened to manage the crisis. In the meantime, the fire brigade, civil protection and local police switchboards are overwhelmed.
