Tragedy came close yesterday afternoon around 6pm, when a road accident occurred on the stretch of the A13 motorway between Ferrara Nord and Ferrara Sud, at kilometer 40 towards Bologna. At least a couple of heavy vehicles and a car were involved.
Following the impact, the car overturned. The collision between the vehicles was so violent that it displaced part of the new jersey (the concrete barrier) present at that point halfway along the road. According to what has been reconstructed, the cause of the incident was the explosion of a tire on the heavy vehicle which, after the skid, would have crushed the Fiat against the wall, causing it to overturn onto the opposite side.
Emergency services and the police arrived on the scene immediately. The former took care of the injured (then transported to hospital without the help of the air ambulance, which was initially alerted but then returned to base), while the latter began carrying out investigations to confirm the exact dynamics.
