Mirror scam attempted on Tuesday evening, when it was 10.30pm, at the entrance to the ring road near the local police headquarters. A black SUV, with two young people on board, approached an Alfa Romeo Giulietta driven by a twenty-five-year-old from Lurate Caccivio, blocking its movement and demanding compensation for the damage the car had just suffered. The usual scam attempt which in fact had been preceded by a strange knock that the driver had heard. When the 25-year-old got out of the car, however, he noticed that the blow was only the result of an egg being thrown at his side and not an alleged blow with the mirror. «These two boys came alongside me and dazzled me with their headlights – he says – They threatened me, they said I had broken their mirror. Then I got out and saw the egg against my car which had no other marks. So I said I would call the police.” At this point, the two young people – “around thirty years old, no more” – got back into their black SUV and disappeared.
An episode that follows a few hours another strange throwing of eggs which took place in the centre, in Viale Varese, but this time to the detriment of some tourists still in cars. On that occasion, according to what was reported by the victims, there had been no attempt to defraud the mirror, but only the fright of the youngest girl in the family who had been hit with the egg thrown by some boys on motorbikes. In short, the two episodes would not appear to be connected if not for the objective strangeness of the use, in both cases, of eggs thrown at the victims.
