Anti-terrorism agents are already operational in Bari and Brindisi

The agents of Anti-terrorism department of the state police they arrived in Puglia for the surveillance activities necessary to guarantee security during the summit of G7, which will take place in the province of Brindisi from 13 to 15 June. Together with the approximately 40 specialized policemen who arrived from Rome and the Carabinieri, many American soldiers are already in the area, busy monitoring the areas of Toasts, Bari And Fasano which will host the heads of state and also those where the delegations of the countries present will have to move.
In particular in Brindisi, where they will meet on the 13th, all the “critical” places are under observation, such as port, railway station and airport; it is not excluded that they may also be closed in the hours before the arrival of the heads of state. Great attention is paid above all to the city center where the Swabian Castle, where the welcome dinner will take place. In Fasano the area is even larger but more isolated: the red zone it should not concern the city center but only the coast road and the borders of Borgo Egnaziawhere they will stay Joe Biden, Giorgia Meloni and the other guests. In Bari, however, the only critical point will be the Fiera del Levante, dedicated to the international press.

Still a few details to iron out

While the delegates of the Presidency of the Republic are focused on the details relating to the structures in which they will meet and the convivial moments (the company that will take care of the service has not yet been chosen catering for dinner and the flower designer who will have to take care of the installations), intelligence experts are committed to identifying less risky routes and logistical solutions.
The priority will be safety, including that of the citizens of Brindisi, and also at the cost of limiting traffic and opening of commercial activities. Shopkeepers, residents and workers (particularly in the center of Brindisi) are waiting to know the details of the ordinances that will regulate the bans during the three days of the summit. Some of the school heads have also formally asked to know whether the institutes will have to remain closed: due to the almost simultaneous European elections, which will take place on 8 and 9 June, some schools will remain closed from the previous week without being able to definitively close school activities before the G7.

The soldiers arriving at the Apulian bases

In recent days the Apulian military bases have begun to welcome those who will carry out surveillance and security tasks: all the soldiers involved in the days of the event will be transferred on a cruise ship docked in Brindisi. Negotiations are underway both to identify the orchestra that will accompany the dinner in Brindisi and for the craft object that will be given to all participants. The structural works requested by the ministries for the Savelletri accommodation facility and the navy headquarters are also almost finished: in fact, it was necessary to adapt both structures to the required needs with reclamation and redevelopment works aimed above all at the safety of the Holy Father too who should participate in one of the two days dedicated to artificial intelligence.
Finally, the ASL of Brindisi presented the internal emergency plan for a massive influx of injured people. It is applied in all emergency medicine operating units of the ASL Brindisi, in the hospitals of Brindisi, Francavilla Fontana and Ostuni.
