The entertainment in Piazzale degli Alpini will return from June 1st. An experience that the Municipality of Bergamo has decided to propose again after the good results of the Nxt station initiative, which attracted 250 thousand visitors in the two and a half years of musical and cultural events.
The objective of the tender prepared by the Municipality of Bergamo is to build an animation and entertainment proposal on the model that the city has learned to know and appreciate in recent years, that is, since the square gained its current trim.
However, at the same time it was decided to mitigate the acoustic impact of musical events, an impact which in the past has given rise to complaints from some residents. The tender was won by the joint venture formed by Shining Production Srl and Pinkbear Srl, both companies based in Lombardy. The assignment will last until May 31, 2027.
Work completed by the end of May
To try to “return Piazzale Alpini to the city” – overcoming the perception of an unsafe place – the Municipality of Bergamo initially worked on the physical form of the square – gaining useful surface area for musical activities, shows, public meetings. However, the solution adopted in recent years had some aspects to improve.
Hence the choice to create a perimeter, with the installation of a fence, «more appropriate to the square, to protect the activities that will take place in the area and to correspond to a need for aesthetic quality and transparency, because the internal part of the square is not obscured from the view of anyone passing along the adjacent streets”. It being understood that the Piazzale Alpini space will be open and constantly accessible from morning to evening.
The works are currently underway and, compatibly with weather conditions (which may delay some works), should be completed by the end of May, precisely in view of the launch of the program of events planned by the new manager of the square.
With the start of activities in Piazzale Alpini, the offer of summer entertainment in the city is completed: Lazzaretto and its varied musical programme, Sant’Agostino park and Goisis park with administration and event spaces, as well as a kiosk at the service of visitors and those who experience the Martin Luther park at Trucca.
