Tiboni: “The symbols of Pescara culture lie abandoned”

In a controversial note, the President of the Ennio Flaiano cultural association, Carla Tiboni, expresses all her bitterness for the state of abandonment in which the Michetti Theater and the Monumento d’Annunzio Theater in Pescara find themselves.

“The symbols of Pescara’s culture, among the most important historically, lie abandoned and there is no news of their fate. The Michetti Theatre, despite the laudable initiatives of the Zimei foundation, which however must stop at the entrance and the rooms in front, continues to be closed and is not returned to the city. The finishing touches, curtains, armchairs, chandeliers and coverings are still needed. It doesn’t take considerable sums; yet what is necessary has not been found to reopen this Art Nouveau jewel of Pescara which could also act as a very useful structure for the cultural activities of associations, considering that it can count on 450 seats and, as it is owned by the Municipality, granted free of charge.

The Monumento d’Annunzio Theatre, a place of art and entertainment for over fifty summers, closed on 20 March of this year due to unusability, due to the lack of seismic stability, lies closed and inaccessible, packed up to watch the summer pass sadly in front to himself. There is no news of works, projects or initiatives to be able to reopen it to the city. What is happening to the cultural spaces of Pescara? What do the mayoral candidates intend to do to remedy this situation”? The note concludes with Carla Tiboni, President of the Ennio Flaiano Cultural Association.
