Timpazzo, definitive coverage of saturated basins: “Excluding environmental and impact assessment”

Frost. It is one of the main projects still underway at Ato Cl2 in liquidation. The regional environment department has ordered that the interventions for the definitive coverage of the two exhausted Timpazzo tanks, AB and CD, do not have to be subjected to environmental and impact assessments. All the technical documentation had been transmitted by the managers of Ato, an area led by commissioner Giuseppe Lucisano, directly to the Palermo offices. The department expressed itself following what was dictated by the specialist technical commission, which issued an opinion specifying that environmental and impact assessment checks should not be adopted. The capping of the two Timpazzo tanks, now saturated, is among the costs that Ato Cl2 in liquidation will have to guarantee, above all for environmental and protection reasons. While the technical offices of Impianti Srr, the in-house company that manages Timpazzo, work on the design aspects and related documents for the expansion with two new tanks, the ones that are now saturated and managed by Ato need to be definitively secured. The only one active in the integrated platform, tank E, is instead the responsibility of Impianti Srr.
