In Turin there is a statue that contains the meaning of life: “Hoy es hoy” – Torino Oggi

Scattered throughout Turin there are numerous hidden and unexpected corners in which to find particular installations. Among these, “Hoy es hoy” stands out, which means “Today is today”, an enormous bronze statue placed since 2008 near number 11 of Piazza Solferino, at the point where, in that same year, an exhibition was set up .

Located in the area of the square that is closest to Corso Re Umberto, the sculpture has, as its subject, a woman’s face. 4 meters high, 2.5 meters wide, 3 meters deep and weighing approximately 2 tons, Hoy es hoy is the result of the ingenuity and creative flair of the Mexican sculptor Javier Marin, and conceals a very particular meaning. Donated to the city of Turin by the Giubergia family, it celebrates the two primordial aspects of human nature, the intellectual and the emotional.

Bronze is an alloy that constitutes an exception among the materials used by Marin for his sculptures: in fact, he usually favors resin in addition to other components such as amaranth seeds, flower petals, dried meat, tobacco, in homage to his land, Mexico, from which he loves to take up the kaleidoscope of nuances that paint its nature and culture.

Therefore, “Hoy es hoy” is a very particular and fascinating installation, both for its features and for the symbolism it contains, which is why it must be admired (at least once).
