Salerno: 10 million euros for the modernization of the Agro-Food Centre

The Municipality of Salerno has obtained a loan of almost ten million as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for the modernization of the Agro-Food Center in the Industrial Area of Salerno.

The financing is part of Measure M.2 which supports the development of logistics for the agri-food, fishing and floriculture sectors.

“The modernization, redevelopment and efficiency improvement of the Agro-Food center of Salerno will make – declares Mayor Vincenzo Napoli – the structure even more competitive and functional for a strategic sector of the economy of Salerno and the entire territory. Having obtained this substantial PNRR funding confirms the planning and administrative capacity of the Municipality of Salerno and will allow us to further enhance the excellence of our territory by generating economy and work in global competition”.

The exact amount of the loan amounts to 9,843,928.00. The project of the Municipality of Salerno includes a series of important general objectives: sustainable and fair logistics; further increase in commercial capacity; ecological and energy transition; increase in separate waste collection; prevention and recovery of food waste; strengthening infrastructural security.

In a phase of large cuts by the Central Government towards municipalities throughout Italy, funds such as those of the PNRR or the Cohesion and Development Fund represent one of the few possibilities for the local self-government system to have the indispensable resources to be able to invest in the future of community.

“In this regard – concludes the Mayor of Salerno Vincenzo Napoli – I express my great satisfaction with the ruling of the Council of State which totally agreed with the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca, protagonist of a long administrative and institutional battle for the stipulation of the agreement on Cohesion and Development Funds. I trust that the signature will be reached soon in order to free up the funding that belongs to the Municipalities, the citizens, the world of culture and the businesses of Campania”.
