There is no peace for the Corso Giolitti high school in Cuneo, which reopened this morning after three days of closure decided by the director following some checks by the Spresal of the ASL CN1, which detected an inadequate level of safety to protect the students and staff.

The checks arose from a complaint filed following the episode of March 6th.

The manager Alessandro Parola, who is being protected by a lawyer, was heavily sanctioned precisely for these inadequacies. Yesterday, following an inspection in the presence of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Province intervened with some urgent work on the electrical system. Also replace the damaged parts of the false ceiling.

This morning, upon returning to school for a thousand students, in distance learning on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, at 8.10, an episode of rubble detaching from the ceiling, in the corridor near the school assistant’s station, on the second floor, right under the classroom affected by the previous collapse, the one in room 93 bis, inaccessible to students and school staff following that episode.

The second – about which the video we attach below is circulating – instead occurred in a classroom during the break. But it is, in reality, an act of vandalism. A student actually threw a pencil case and caused the collapse. He was identified and later admitted his responsibility.

The Province intervened immediately with its technicians and those of the company that is carrying out the work on the school. The situation of the light tile false ceilings was monitored, taking into account the important atmospheric phenomena of the night and currently underway.

The strong nocturnal storms have, in fact, caused a new infiltration whose origin was identified by an old original gutter inside the building (in correspondence with the turret on Corso Giolitti), which caused the soaking and consequent pulping of a tile in the first floor corridor.

After being immediately removed, further checks were carried out, also noting that the attic (Via XX Settembre side) was dry and that therefore the infiltration phenomenon remained limited. Also this morning, an incident occurred in the institute involving damage to a further tile attributable to vandalism, which is being addressed.
