Today’s statements by Luca Serfilippi, on the present and future of healthcare in Fano, leave us astounded by their inconsistency and mystification.
The right-wing candidate for Mayor flaunts that the Marche Region has provided 20 million euros for the Fano hospital, but carefully avoids saying that investments of around 204 million euros are planned for the new and downsized hospital in Pesaro. And this despite the fact that, in 2022, accesses to the Fano emergency room were higher than those of the Pesaro emergency room.
Omissions that are not surprising: after all, after the initiative of the Municipality of Fano to appeal to the TAR to challenge the decree-opinions of the Marche Region, published at the end of 2023, which recognizes 80 beds at the private clinic in Pesaro, the candidate and regional councilor Serfilippi has literally disappeared and does not respond to any of the requests that are publicly addressed to him on this issue and in particular on the 50 posts for public health in Fano of which traces have curiously been lost.
The truth is that in four years the right-wing government of the Marche Region has only been able to make jokes and propaganda while public health is increasingly weak and Fano, in particular, is increasingly penalized by the new regional strategies. It is also clear that the contradictions between the Ancona and Pesaro healthcare systems penalize Fano. It is clear that the right – just think of the recent choices on private healthcare – is favoring Pesaro. These are the results of the health policy aimed only at local customers.
Santa Croce must instead be able to invest again, in particular in specialist and outpatient diagnostics. We need to strongly support consultancy services, which are currently collapsing (UMEE and UMEA, pathological addictions, mental health centre, …). We need to invest in local healthcare and home care. In short, we must give priority to public health and say it without the ambiguities that characterize Serfilippi’s statements, both peremptory and empty.
