It turned out to be a scorching winter in the parish of Borgotrebbia.
Thermometer at minimum to avoid waste, but sufficient to warm many elderly people of the neighborhood who would not have been able to afford that warmth in their own home, and good for keeping the children in catechism and the faithful warm during masses.
But the supplier (Enel) was relentless: between November 2023 and March 2024 they arrived 27,382 euros of bills to pay, compared to less than six thousand euros in the same period referring to the previous year. Both figures are attributable to two users that pertain to the parish center and the church of Borgotrebbia.
A stunning increase, unfortunately not isolated (in recent months many people from Piacenza have publicly denounced the arrival of astronomical heating bills), but which this time hits even harder. “We have not received prior and adequate information this disproportionate increase of the supplier – says Don Pietro Cesena, parish priest of the church of the Holy Guardian Angels of Borgotrebbia – after tiring communications with the offices which ended in nothing, I gave up and entrusted my protection to the Federconsumatori of Piacenza. The parish’s money is not mine, it belongs to the community, I must put in place adequate protection.”
