Savona. The 13th edition of the City of Savona International Meeting, Challenger event of the World Athletics Tour which took place today at the Giulio Ottolia multi-sports complex, offered, for the three hours of its duration, a spectacle of the highest level.
The 110 athletes who took to the track or platform battled in the fifteen scheduled races, offering a spectacle worthy of an event that has firmly entered the top sixty in the world.
The three competitions that closed the program also recorded good results.
The men’s 400m hurdles started at 6.25pm. The British Alastair Chalmers won with his season best 49″10.
Second place went to the German Joshua Abuaku in 49″26, third to the Irishman Thomas Barr in 49″90.
Fourth place for Mario Lambrughi (Riccardi Milano) in 50″00, fifth Dany Brand (SUI) in 50″30, sixth Ismail Neziri (TUR) in 51″05.
The women’s 400 hurdles start at 6.35pm. Success for the Ukrainian Anna Rizhykova with a time of 55″83.
Second Alice Muraro (Aeronautica Militare) in 56″02, third Eleonora Marchiando (Carabinieri) in 56″26, fourth Linda Olivieri (Fiamme Oro) in 56″36, fifth Jessie Knight (GBR) in 56″44, sixth Alessia Seramondi ( Fiamme Gialle) in 59″22.
Closing with the men’s 1500 meters. The Spaniard Ignacio Fontes won them, finishing in 3’36″51, a season record.
Second position for Mohad Abdikadar Sheik Ali (Air Force) in 3’37″45; third for the British Archie Davis in 3’38″83.
Fourth Alessandro Lotta (Alpinistico Vertovese) with a personal best of 3’41″44; fifth Sebastiano Parolini (Alpinistico Vertovese) in 3’42″42, sixth Mosisa Siyoum (ETH) in 3’43″62, seventh Paul Oriach (ESP) in 3’45″16, eighth Paul Robinson (IRL) in 3’47 ″62, ninth Vittore Simone Borromini (Toscana Atletica Jolly) in 3’52″44.
Manuel Di Primio (Gran Sasso Teramo) and Riccardo Tamassia (Trevisarchitettura) did not finish the race.
