Frost. “There are no electoral interests” behind the request to convene the Ghelas assembly, initiated by the mayor Lucio Greco. The mayor, however, considers the considerations of councilor Diego Iaglietti out of place who, when faced with his initiative, spoke of “illegitimacy”, overshadowing the mayor’s desire to remove the current in-house manager Pietro Inferrera, precisely at the conclusion of the mandate in the municipality and in the imminence of the electoral consultations. “Councillor Iaglietti’s statement regarding the Ghelas affair leaves one shocked and incredulous. Entering straight into an issue that concerns the governance of Ghelas, a public company of which the sole owner is the Municipality of Gela, raises concern and leaves some doubts about the interests that are at stake”, explains Greco. In his communication forwarded to the multiservice offices, the mayor indicates among the points of the meeting the revocation of the current administrator Pietro Inferrera and the appointment of the successor, for three years, in addition to that of two members of the board of auditors. According to Iaglietti, this is a choice contrary to the regulations on the matter and harmful to the municipal coffers. “I may not be an expert in business economics like councilor Iaglietti who, from his position as “rector” of a university, certainly possesses in-depth skills in various disciplines – says the mayor harshly – but I can assure you that the work followed it is perfectly compliant with the law and within the full powers of the mayor”.
