On Friday 17 May at 5pm on the external veranda of Galliano (beginning of the Viareggio seaside walk) the collection of postcards will be presented Viareggio ‘900an initiative published by Editrice Ancora and curated by Ass.Promo-Terr.
Viareggio ‘900 is a collection of postcards (15) of historical photos of Viareggio from the early twentieth century combined with 15 works by contemporary artists. “The reason for this combination is to be found in the artistic and cultural past of our city – explain the authors of the publication –. The intent of this editorial initiative is to remember and enhance the important legacy that Viareggio had between the two wars, when the greatest Italian intellectuals and artists met on our beaches and in the clubs and Viareggio was a protagonist on a national level in the artistic and cultural fields”.
Even the choice to present Viareggio ‘900 da Galliano follows these intentions, the place that has always been managed by the Vannozzi family, celebrated 100 years of activity last year, a place that in this century of life has hosted artists and intellectuals and was the location of one of the major films of the 60s “A difficult life” by director Dino Risi, the family has kindly granted the publisher two historical photos from the family archive representative of the 30s and which will be present in this collection.
As already mentioned Viareggio ‘900 also contains 15 works by contemporary artists from the area, which include a varied display of different artistic sensibilities as well as offering an interesting insight into the current state of the art, here is the selection of the artists present: Renato Gérard, Sandra Beltrami, Sandra Borin, Gianni Capolei , Roberto Gambini, Ambra Ceragioli, Cristina Visibelli, Alessandro Mattei, Simona Francesconi, Franca Viola, Mariano Domenici, Antonio Giovanni Mellone, Angelo Raffaelli, Gavia, Adriana Bonetti.
