The twenty-fourth “off the road” is released by the types of Ali&no Editrice of Perugia Lucca. Walking in the city among art, greenery and musicto. The book will be presented, as a national preview, Thursday 23 May at 6.30pm at the Feltrinelli bookshop in Lucca by the journalist Duccio Casini together with the author Enzo FerrariLucca by adoption. Since 1998, the “i Fuori Guida” project has been proposing city and nature trails, telling the story of the area through history, art, legends, oral memories, and searching for signs, architectural and otherwise, that escape most people and tell the curious traveler the soul of the place you are visiting. The illustrations are original ink drawingsinspired by notebooks of travelers of the Grand Tour. Since 2019 they have been collaborating on the student project B. Di Betto Art High School in Perugia who illustrated, guided by their teachers, with great care and attention, this book too, working on photographic shots of the author.

In Lucca, palaces, churches, towers, plaques, gardens and convents tell of a past of beauty and splendor. They whisper to the attentive traveler that a free and ingenious spirit reigned here whose nature is remembered in every corner and in every alley. In the internal perimeter of the celebrated Walls, where history pulsates, the out of driving which will accompany those who want to get to know the city by walking in six itineraries, following the ancient division of the tertieri (The Walls, San Paolino, San Salvatore, San Martino) and then return to where you started from. We will encounter famous monuments, delve into stories and legends, the special legacies of saints and musicians (among all Giacomo Puccini And Luigi Boccherini), we will cross doors, bastions and streets, focusing on architectural signs, stories of water and industriousness, of great artists and noblewomen who lived here leaving their mark. Walking along the dense network of streets in the centre, we will imagine noises coming from old shops that have now disappeared, we will pass by via Fillungowhere there were once fifteen jewelery shops, we will tell about the ComicsOf Piazza Napoleonefor the people of Lucca square Greatthe city’s good living room, in the history of Amphitheater square and of Guinigi towerthe antiques market and cathedral of San Martino. We will slowly enter the living body of Lucca, a thousand-year-old city with still vivid traces, to discover and appreciate it in its soul.

Enzo Ferrarigfrom Enova, lives between Imperia and Lucca.
