Francis Casinimayor of Bagno a Ripoli, spoke in view of the UEFA final Conference League between Olympiacos and Fiorentina, which will be played on Wednesday 29 May. Candidate IV for the Florence City Council would like to help Viola fans who are in difficulty with flight prices to reach Athens; so it is expressed like this: “The Municipality of Florence asks Enac to exceed the time limit of flights to Peretola, set by Palazzo Vecchio, to allow the return of Viola fans from Athens on the night of the Conference final. An exemption on a special occasion, historic in its own way, which would avoid many inconveniences for fans who want to follow their favorite team. In recent days many Viola clubs have contacted me complaining about the absence of flights to Florence for the Conference final on May 29th in Athens. Many fans have booked flights with three stopovers to follow the team, some are forced to leave from airports outside the region and have found tickets at crazy prices. All this also depends on the fact that there is a ban on flying over Peretola after 1am, imposed by the Municipality for noise reasons which may be right out of respect for the citizens but which for such a special occasion can and must be waived. I therefore launch an appeal to the municipal administration to ask Enac to grant an exemption for that evening, opening Peretola airport to charters returning from Athens on the night of the final. The request must come from the Municipality which so far has not thought of this solution, it is necessary to hurry and involve Enac. It is not certain that we will succeed: it then depends on the availability of the companies and the costs of the charters must be taken into account. But I think that an administration faced with an event that is in its own way historic for the team of its city like this final, must make life easier for the fans. Maybe by intervening earlier there would have been fewer logistical problems and lower costs for those who want to follow their favorite team to the final.”
