A tribute to the 6C 1500 Super Sports and his legendary victory in the 1928 Mille Miglia.
After the good placing of the RL in the first edition of the “most beautiful race in the world”, in 1928 the 6C 1500 Super Sports (Mille Miglia Speciale) by Giuseppe Campari and Giulio Ramponi dominates the Mille Miglia, raced between 31 March and 1 April. After a marathon of 1621 km, of the 82 starters only 40 reached the finish line, preceded by the slim spider Zagato which closed the race in 19 hours 14 minutes and 5 seconds at an average speed of 84.128 km/h. For Alfa Romeo it is the first of 11 victories at the Mille Miglia, a record that will remain unbeaten. But also the first important victory obtained by the new 6C 1500, progenitor of a new generation of Alfa Romeo designed by Vittorio Jano.

The Alfa Romeo Style Center reinterprets the Quadrifoglio.
To make this limited special series completely unique, which celebrates an indissoluble bond with the world of racing, the Alfa Romeo Style Center has worked to present a reinterpretation of the Quadrifoglio, a symbol that has always identified the most extreme performances in the range. For the first time in over 100 years of history of the four-leaf clover, the white background of the triangle which traditionally hosts the green four-leaf clover with a clear contrast, gives way to black, a color which gives further boldness and solidity to the iconic coat of arms. Last year, on the occasion of the centenary, the four-leaf clover logo was embellished with a golden frame and the dates (1923 -2023) that define a century of passion for sports, performance and racing.

Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sports they are the result of a century-old search for technical excellence applied to competitions and production cars. The 2.9 V6 engine is equipped with 520 HP and is combined with the mechanical self-locking differential. This is an important technical solution which, thanks to specific tuning deriving from Giulia GTA’s design experience, contributes to improving the car’s behavior and traction, optimizing torque transfer, increasing stability, agility and cornering speed. .
Strong personality in the highly sporty exterior characterized by the new four-leaf clover logo with a black background and widespread use of carbon: visible on the roof (opt. for Giulia), in the “V” of the shield and on the rear-view mirrors. The sporty alloy wheels are burnished with 5 holes, 19” for the Giulia, and 21” for the Stelvio with new and very sporty black brake calipers. The liveries available: three-layer Etna Red, metallic Vulcano Black and Alfa White (available on Giulia). The look is characterized by “3+3” headlights, with adaptive Full-LED Matrix headlights which offer an anti-glare and adaptable driving beam for optimal lighting in all conditions, ensuring energy savings, a high improvement in safety and less eye strain.
The same sporty characterization is found in the internal environment where the red and 3D carbon finish for the dashboard, central tunnel and door panel. The front headrests are embellished with red embroidery of the “Super Sports” and in black the number that declares it belongs to the exclusive limited series. The steering wheel is covered in leather and Alcantara with black stitching and carbon fiber inserts.

Driving dynamics best in class, the result of the surprising lightness, due to the use of ultra-light materials such as aluminum for the engine and carbon fiber for the drive shaft, bonnet, spoiler and side skirts. On Giulia, active aerodynamics remain with the carbon front splitter: when activated it controls the quality of air flow that passes under the vehicle, increasing stability and performance. Finally, the Akrapovich exhaust system gives the exhaust an unmistakable sound.

From the exclusive aesthetics to the technology and on-board connectivity which, by definition, are at the service of a typically Alfa Romeo driving experience. Instrument panel, characterized by the historic “telescope” design, where the 12.3” TFT screen – totally digital – from which to access all the information on the car and the parameters relating to autonomous driving technologies. On the Quadrifoglio, in addition to the three layouts available across the entire Alfa Romeo range, Evolved Relax and Heritage, there is the exclusive “Race” configuration.

The “Race” layout collects in the central screen the fundamental information that every driver wants to have under control: rev counter, speedometer and shift light for manual driving. The layout can be customized by placing further information in the side quadrants, including snapshots relating to performance.

Both Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sports are equipped with an HMI (Human Machine Interface) fluid and intuitive to have all the functions at hand. And the system infotainment guarantees content, functionality and the “Alfa Connect Services” platform which offers a wide range of useful services for safety and comfort.

The 6C 1500 Super Sports
In the aftermath of the World Championship victory with the Tipo P2, Vittorio Jano responded to the need for a new road car with medium displacement and brilliant performance with the 6C 1500, whose chassis was previewed at the 1925 Paris Motor Show with the acronym NR (Nicola Romeo). However, for the new car, equipped with a 6-cylinder in-line engine of 1487 cc and 44 HP, to go into production, it was necessary to wait until 1927.
The success is immediate, on the market as well as in racing, and the versions follow one another with continuous evolutions and increases in power: at the top of the range is the Super Sports with compressor and “fixed head” with 84 HP for 155 km/h.
In 1928 Alfa Romeo entered six cars in the second edition of the Mille Miglia. The drivers are Bruno Presenti, Attilio Marinoni, Giovan Battista Guidotti and, above all, Giuseppe Campari who shares with Giulio Ramponi the cockpit of a 6C 1500 signed MMS, Mille Miglia Speciale, improved by Jano by working on weight balance. Once the threat of the three official Bugattis driven by Gastone Brilli Peri, Pietro Bordino and Tazio Nuvolari, already in control of Rome, vanished in the first part of the race, Campari-Ramponi took the lead, a position they would maintain at the finish line in Brescia, closing the race in first place absolute at 84.128 km/h on average. The 6C 1500 in its various versions, as well as being a successful car in competitions, between 1927 and 1929 also allowed Alfa Romeo to achieve excellent commercial results with 1064 examples sold, a very respectable figure for the time.
