A young man hiker from the province of Vareseborn in 1995, was found safe and sound after the alarm was raised about his disappearance along the Heavenly Way in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The Udine alpine and speleological rescue station was activated yesterday evening, between 7pm and 8.30pm, following a report from the manager of the Pian dei Ciclamini refugewhere the hiker was expected around 5pm.
Concerned about the absence of the young man and without any news from him, the refugee raised the alarm, fearing he might have run into difficulties along the route, known for some previous accidents, including fatal ones. Four rescuers, supported by a Civil Protection helicopterthey quickly reached the base camp to start the patrol from above, accelerated by the imminent arrival of one meteorological disturbance.
Luckily, the hiker was found in the ANA Montaperta refuge, where he had decided to stop to sleep with another walker, who was also alone. The two they had attempted to communicate the change of plans to the manager of the original refuge, but telephone network problems had prevented communication.
