SUCCESS FOR THE FINAL EVENT OF THE SOCIAL INCLUSION PROJECT OF THE CGIA AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF VENICE “FLYING BEYOND SPORT”
The fourth edition of “Volare Oltre lo Sport” ended last weekend, an initiative conceived and created by the CGIA of Mestre in collaboration with the educational itineraries of the Municipality of Venice.
The final event took place in Punta San Giuliano, where over 300 students from the city’s secondary schools participated.
Overall, however, the social inclusion project promoted by the Mestre artisans saw the participation of 24 classes from Mestre high schools, for a total of around 600 children.
Last weekend’s event was a moment of meeting, conviviality and sport, at the end of a long journey, in which the municipal administration of Venice, the students and teachers of the institutes involved took part.
“The combination of sport, school and inclusion – underlined Roberto Bottan President of the CGIA – proves once again successful, thanks to splendid team work carried out by the organizers which involved sports associations and Paralympic champions, such as the climber Moreno Pesce. What is given is a strong message of inclusion, even in physical activity, beyond stereotypes and, indeed, beyond barriers. In short, sport is for everyone and with due care, even for children with disabilities.”
The 2024 edition began last January. After some initial meetings in class with disabled athletes, the project included three very fascinating outings: in March a “snowshoe hike” to the Fiume refuge, in the splendid setting of the Dolomites (in which two classes were able to participate); then two paddles on the Sile river (with six classes); and finally the one held last weekend, with around 300 kids, who were able to physically “try out” disciplines related to water, such as canoeing, kayaking, sailing, Venetian rowing and, from this year , even tennis.”
