World Bee Day, established in 2017 by the United Nations Assembly and celebrated on May 20th each year, has several objectives:

• draw the attention of the world population and politicians to the importance of protecting bees

• remember that humanity depends on bees and other pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, bats and hummingbirds

• protect bees and other pollinators to significantly contribute to solving global food supply problems and to eliminate hunger in underdeveloped countries

• stop the loss of biodiversity and the degradation of ecosystems in order to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

The UNESCO Club of Sanremo OdV, chaired by Eng. To celebrate this day, Ciro Esse is organizing an educational meeting “Journey into the world of bees: how they work for us and how we work for them” which will be held on Saturday 18 May at 5.00 pm in the Sala del Palazzo Roverizio, Via Escoffier 29, in Sanremo.

Patrizio Michelis, expert in organic and biodynamic agriculture and beekeeping, will speak. He carried out his professional career as Head of the Agricultural Technical Office of the Mountain Community of Ceva, a point of reference for beekeepers both for training and for conferences and various activities related to the beekeeping sector.
