The sale of Foggia has now reached its final stages. For the closing it would now be a matter of waiting very little, a matter of hours or perhaps a day or two. On pole is the De Finis-Salandra consortium, which is demonstrating practical sense and desire to move forward with the acquisition of the majority stake in the club. The economic situation of Calcio Foggia is 6.2 million in debt as of 31 March 2024 which, net of shareholder loans, credits and bank availability they are reduced to 2 million and 371 thousand euros.

According to some rumours, also reported this morning by Corriere dello Sport but not confirmed by Palazzo di Città, yesterday (14 May, ed.) the Mayor Episcopo would have received two people, representing a purchasing group (this could be a single private investor). A proposal that would not be of local origin and this would push the first citizen to give priority to the Salandra group since there would not be sufficient time to do thorough screening of the other group.

Foggia, are we moving towards closing? The situation

In the meantime, word of a third proposal had arrived last week, which had not yet materialised. In short it would seem that De Finis and Salandra have no rivals at the momentand if they have the green light from the Municipality, they will then have to proceed with Canonico who has everything in hand for registration for the championship. The documentation would in fact already be ready and – according to Corriere dello Sport – the former patron could be asked to provide a guarantee of 350 thousand euros to guarantee registration, the limit of which expires on 4 June; guarantee which would then be returned to the old owner as soon as the new management took office.

“If the agreement were to close within this week, there would be plenty of time to fulfill the most imminent deadlines relating to registration for the next Serie C championship. If Foggia were sold, the Canonico-Pintus controversy could not have more repercussions on society. According to this thesis, supported by corporate law experts (and Rossoneri fans), any new ownership of Foggia would be relieved of further financial outlays. The Cagliari court will in fact have to decide whether Pintus, a shareholder with 49%, has the right to be liquidated by Canonico according to the summer 2021 agreements. Canonico, in the latest press release, recalls that Map Consulting, Pintus’ company, in last three-year period, would have financed Foggia with only 38,136 euros”we read in the columns of today’s edition of the CdS.
