“May to childhood” arrives in Ruvo di Puglia with Jack and his plane – RuvoLive.it

May at Childhood also stops in Ruvo di Puglia: the theater festival for the new generations, directed by Teresa Ludovico and now in its 27th edition, will be hosted on Thursday 16 May by the Nuovo Teatro Comunale of Ruvo di Puglia where, for on this occasion, at 11 am, the debut of the show will be staged Jack, the boy who flew over the ocean (a story between sky and sea)produced by the company La Luna nel Letto, written and directed by Michelangelo Campanale.

The public of families and school groups from all over Italy has already met little Jack dealing with a large child-eating ogre. The episode – inspired by the English fairy tale by the unknown author Jack and the Beanstalk – is the first of a trilogy that follows the growth path of a special child, like all boys and girls, who courageously learn to live in the complicated world of adults. In this second episode, Jack is no longer a child: he has become an ingenious and tireless boy. War has arrived in his country; all of his closest friends have escaped on board a ship bound for America. He wants to reach them, to save himself, but the soldiers have occupied the port. There is an ocean that divides them.

History, harking back to Charles Lindbergh – the first pilot to cross the Atlantic Ocean solo – takes shape thanks to the union of new technologies and craftsmanship; the use of the former is useful for discovering a world in which manual skills and play (and above all manual play) are still at the centre. As if leafing through an illustrated book, the images come to life on the scene; the actress Maria Pascale, to the rhythm of her voice, directs a stage machine which, operated down to the smallest details by Michelangelo Campanale and Michelangelo Volpe, allows the spectator to enter small fantastic worlds for fantastic little heroes.

The program of the Ruvo stage of Maggio all’Infanzia continues on the same day of Thursday 16 May from 12 to 2 pm in the New Municipal Theater with free workshops dedicated to primary schools entitled “The leaflets of May to Childhood” and, in parallel, at 12.15 with the regional debut of the show “Europe does not fall from the sky – Experimental history of a dream, an idea, a project”, produced by the Teatro delle Albe, idea and direction by Alessandro Argnani (show for children aged 11 and over, duration 55′, ticket cost 6 euros). And again, at 3 pm, in the former Dominican convent of Ruvo di Puglia with “Freefly. Confessions on the unbearable need for admiration” of the Trento Spettacoli company, by and with Lucia Raffaella Mariani (show for children aged 14 and over, duration 60′, ticket cost 5 euros). Finally, at 4.30 pm, in the New Municipal Theatre “The Tragicomics. Life of heroes”national debut of the show by Crest and I Nuovi Scalzi, lyrics and direction by Savino Maria Italian show for children aged 10 and up, duration 70′, ticket cost 5 euros).

«The strength of our work also lies in the idea, in the will and in the constructive way in which we always choose to collaborate with many other worlds – he explains Michelangelo Campanale, artistic director of the company La Luna nel Letto –. This applies both to shows such as the Fabbrica del Tempo, which recently debuted in Milan and which was born from the collaboration with Principio Attivo Teatro, and with the Kismet Theater of Bari compared to a festival, such as that of Maggio all’Infanzia, which is been participated and shared by us from the first moment. All this happens because we are convinced that openness to any form of collaboration is what really allows art to grow. We are therefore honored to have organizers from all over Italy in Ruvo di Puglia and in our theatre, which precisely by virtue of the cultural policy it has always pursued, manages to convey these possible integrations in the best possible way.”

«The Maggio all’Infanzia stage in Ruvo di Puglia represents for us an important opportunity to meet a theater festival that has brought a lot of children’s theater and many innovative experiences to Puglia and we are happy that our city is becoming part of it – it is , then, the comment of the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Ruvo di Puglia, Monica Filograno –. The company La luna nelletto and the Nuovo Teatro Comunale are exceptional protagonists of children’s theater in Italy and for this reason we have worked to make this stage possible, which will also see the extraordinary opening as a performance venue of the courtyard of our former Dominican Convent , destined to become a new and multifunctional cultural attractor in the coming months. The program, the schools that will come to see the shows, the involvement of the local association network are all elements that communicate perfectly with each other to make this day unique.”
