Europe between peace and war, conference in Sassari on Friday

Sassari. Europe between peace and war, between fear and hope. This is the theme of the meeting organized in Sassari by Progetto Sardegna as part of the series of initiatives arising from the thematic tables of the movement headed by Renato Soru. A reflection on ongoing conflicts in the world, with particular attention to the scenarios closest to us such as Ukraine and Palestine, to try to understand their causes and effects while international diplomacy seems in difficulty in finding a way out.

What Putin’s so-called “special operation” was supposed to be a blitzkrieg has now turned out to be a long and painful conflict, with a very heavy toll in terms of lives and economic resources. From the Middle East, however, increasingly dramatic reports of Palestine arrive every day, with images that cannot leave anyone indifferent. Now we are wondering about the strategies that European politics and that of individual national states can implement. How much do these events affect the economy of Europe and individual states? What are the consequences for us citizens, on the cost of energy resources, on the destination of ever-increasing resources to the war sector? What moral price will we have to pay for all this?

On Friday 17 May at 6pm in the Teatro dei Cappuccini in Piazza Cappuccini 3 Sassari these and other questions will be at the center of the reflection with the interventions of Renato Soru, Mario Mauro, former Minister of Defense in the Letta Government and former vice-president of the European Parliament, and Gianni Fresu , associate professor of political philosophy at the University of Cagliari. The debate will be coordinated by Antonella Fancello.
