Palazzo Chiodo, the Municipality tries again: but the auction price does not change

The historic Chiodo palace in via Cacciatori delle Alpi, in the historic center of Cuneo, is back up for auction. An obligatory choice, explains the administration, “since at this stage the Municipality of Cuneo is not willing to cover the high costs for a recovery and refunctionalization of the sixteenth-century building, but the Palace is in need of interventions”.

Thus we continue to look for a buyer, despite the fact that last January a first auction was unsuccessful, set at a base price of 2 million 400 thousand euros (as much as the Municipality had paid in 2006). The council resolution of May 9th, published today on the noticeboard, sets a sales price identical to that of the previous auction. The administration says it “aware of the preciousness of the property, but also aware of the economic weight of interventions for the benefit of its conservation, it is trying in every way to find an adequate solution, with initiatives that do not cause damage to the municipal coffers”.

“For the municipalities, – continues the note from the organization – the situation in the last two decades has undergone developments such that the management of significant real estate assets involves increasingly burdensome costs in relation to the budgets available to the institutions. Hence the choice to put the building back up for sale, so that it can have a new life”. The Heritage sector, which is responsible for preparing the documents, will provide further specifications on the tender, including the deadline for the submission of any offers.
