6.7 million from the Emilia-Romagna Region

Over 6.7 million euros to support agriculture and for the disposal of blue crabs that are not consumed for food purposes. The Economic Policies Commission has given a favorable opinion to the draft law proposed by the council of the Emilia-Romagna Region to support agriculture and the areas affected by the damage of the blue crab. Initially the measure envisaged interventions amounting to 6 million euros: the commission approved four amendments which provided for an overall increase of 755,000 euros bringing the amount of the entire measure to over 6.7 million euros. The main items of the bill are: 700 thousand euros in 2024 to maintain the cultivation of potatoes (provided that certified seed tubers are used), another 500 thousand euros for rice (provided that certified seeds are used), 300 thousand euros for support for the Piacenza cured meats consortium (bacon, salami and coppa), one million euros for the disposal of blue crab not intended for trade and catering, 270,000 euros for support for reserved agricultural markets and 285,000 euros for wild boar control plans. Over three years, however, the funds to support the cultivation of beetroot amount to 1 million euros in 2024, 1.5 million in 2025 and 1.5 million in 2026. The bill is now being sent to the Legislative Assembly for the final vote.
