In the Top 30 in Italy, twenty-ninth place to be precise, and among the 600 best in the world (position number 595): these are the placings of the University of Brescia in the latest edition of the Global 2000 List drawn up by the Center for World University Rankings, at the end of a report that analyzed 20,996 universities around the world, until the first two thousand in the ranking were selected.

At an Italian level, the best university is Sapienza University of Rome, followed by the University of Padua and the University of Milan: beyond the podium, the local Top 10 (in this order) is completed by the universities of Bologna, Turin, Naples (Federico II ), Florence, Genoa, Pisa and Pavia. However, Lombardy is well represented, following in rapid sequence with two other Milanese universities: the Polytechnic and the University of Milan-Bicocca. As mentioned, UniBs is placed in twenty-ninth place, still respectable, just behind the University of Palermo and immediately ahead of the Polytechnic of Turin.

The best universities in the world

On the international front, obviously, there is no match. United States on the shields: the best in the world is Harvard University, as American as MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Stanford University, in second and third place respectively. Only the University of Cambridge (England, in fourth place) and the University of Oxford, in fifth place break the dominance of the Stars and Stripes: the following universities are also all American (Princeton, Columbia, Pennsylvania, Yale, California Institute of Technology, Chicago and Berkley, California), up to the University of Tokyo which placed thirteenth in the ranking. In nineteenth place, PSL University of Paris, in twentieth place, University College of London.

To draw up the 2024 ranking, the Center for World University Rankings analyzed 62 million data, divided into four macro-areas (Education, Employability, Faculty, Research). The United States is the most represented country with 329 faculties out of the 2 thousand total included in the ranking: 324 Chinese ones, 110 Japanese ones, 92 English ones, 73 French ones, 46 Russian ones. In the rest of the world, the University of Melbourne (Australia) is the best in Oceania, that of Sao Paulo (Brazil) in South America, that of Cape Town (South Africa) the best on the African continent.
