BRINDISI – They would have managed a drug dealing place by shipping drugs throughout Italy and then using the proceeds in cryptocurrencies (virtual currency/bitcoin) through cash transfers for a total amount of over 30 thousand euros. The doses were ‘booked’ using Telegram and Whatsapp. This is what emerged from the investigations of the Brindisi prosecutor’s office which coordinated an investigative activity conducted by the carabinieri of the San Vito dei Normanni company and the anti-counterfeiting command, cryptocurrency section of Rome. In the last few hours, a notice of conclusion of the investigations was served on ten people (seven originally from the province of Bari and three from Brindisino) aged between 24 and 40, accused in various capacities of illicit possession and dealing of narcotic substances ( methadone, ketamine, hashish and marijuana), and possession of false identity documents and self-laundering.

The military executed a preventive seizure decree issued by the investigating judge of the Brindisi court against two of the main suspects, of money and virtual currency (cryptocurrencies), active balances present on ten prepaid cards, for a total amount of just over three thousand EUR.
According to the investigations, 150 sales of narcotic substances were detected in the period between March and September 2022. The military believes that the logistics and sorting base was in Latiano, in the province of Brindisi, and that the suspects would have managed to supply drugs to customers residing throughout Italy to whom the doses were sent with the help of postal services and behind the payment through top-ups on prepaid cards or bank transfers.
