“Dear Lecce fans – wrote the coach on Instagram -, I would have liked to respond first to every single message of your solidarity, esteem and affection that I have received in these two months. I do it today, in this way, involving everyone, Why this is a good opportunity to apologize to you once again for my gesture at the end of the match against Verona: I made a mistake and I paid, a bad example which however remains isolated in my history as a man and professional.
I am very happy for Lecce’s extraordinary and deserved salvation. I carry all of you Giallorossi fans in my heart and that’s why I’ve been waiting for the right time to say THANK YOUon behalf of my family and my staff.

D’Aversa and the headbutt to Henry
Last March 11th Roberto D’Aversa was relieved of his duties after what happened in the match against Verona. The Giallorossi coach, after the final whistle, he had hit the opposing attacker Thomas Henry with a headbutt. “After the events that occurred at the end of the Lecce-Verona match, the club announces that it has relieved coach Roberto D’Aversa of his duties”, wrote the club in an official note.
