COSENZA There Davis Cup won by Italy in November 2023 arrives in Calabria for the first time in history. The trophy of the top world men’s tennis competition that the national team captains Filippo Volandri he won after 47 years (since the last one won in 1976 by Adriano Panatta and companions), will be exposed next May 22nd at Palazzo dei Bruzi in Cosenza, while on May 23rd it will move in Rende inside the “Chiappetta Sport Village” in via Michele Sorrenti, a structure with a surface area of ​​approximately 33,000 m2, with six red clay tennis courts and a synthetic grass five-a-side football pitch. On May 26th the Cup will travel to Reggio Calabria to be exposed to Palazzo San Giorgio, municipal headquarters. The following day the salad bowl will move to the “Rocco Polimeni tennis club”.
The event falls within “Trophy Tour” which sees the most iconic cup in world tennis traveling to Italian cities to allow enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike to admire it and touch it first-hand. The final matches of last year’s Davis Cup in which Italy, dragged by a Jannik Sinner phenomenal, he first defeated the world number one Serbia in the semifinals Novak Đoković and then, in the final, Australia. A real advertisement for a discipline which, thanks to that success and the climb to the top of Sinner’s ATP rankings, is now attracting many very young people.

On Wednesday 22 May, from 10 am, the Davis Cup will be on display at Palazzo dei Bruzi. At the beginning, a meeting will be held in which representatives of the institutions and the world of tennis will take part. The salad bowl will remain in the municipal headquarters until 8pm. The next day, Thursday 23 May, the same script starting from 11am, with Davis moving to the Chiappetta Sport Village in Rende and remaining available to enthusiasts, also in this case , until 8pm.
Three days later the Trophy tour of the world champions will move to Reggio Calabria. In this case, we start on the morning of Sunday 26th with the Davis which will be exhibited at Palazzo San Giorgio, or in the municipal headquarters.
