Moments of fear in the early hours of Monday 13 May. A building went up in flames and only the intervention of the firefighters made it possible to avoid a tragedy.
First the flames, then a column of smoke. It was a night of fear for the residents of a building in Teramo. The fire broke out around 1am on Monday 13 May. The firefighters immediately arrived on the scene and rescued them rescued the people stuck in the structure and then put out the flames.
The Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to understand better the causes of the fire. There are several points to clarify and the police are carrying out all the necessary investigations. To date there is no person registered on the register of suspects, but very important news is expected in the next few hours.
The dynamics of the fire
The police and firefighters are investigating the dynamics of the fire. According to initial information, the flames broke out in the attic of the building where they were present furnishings, furnishings and various combustible materials. The fire could have started from the latter, which also caused the collapse of the wooden roof.
Fortunately the flames did not reach the other apartments. The intervention of the firefighters was timely to make the building safe and bring out the families present in the building. Despite this, however, the checks carried out confirmed the unusability of the structure. The residents were therefore transferred to a hotel waiting to understand when they will be able to return to their homes.
Investigations underway
As previously mentioned, the Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to ascertain the causes of the fire. The police are awaiting the findings of the firefighters to have a clearer picture of what happened. Only after all these checks will it be decided whether to return the families to their homes or wait for the works to make the entire structure safe.
