Fiumicino Tributi informs that the first installment of the IMU, the municipal tax due for real estate (buildings, agricultural land, building areas) must be paid every year by 16 June, but for this year (the date falls on Sunday), the deadline is postponed to Monday 17 June, while the second instalment, to balance the tax, is paid on 16 December.
The two installments are the result of the IMU calculation which takes into account the taxable base (value revalued of the property) and the expected rate.
Please remember that the IMU is a self-assessment tax, no bulletin will arrive at the taxpayer’s home who will instead have to take care (also through CAF, associations and professionals) to calculate the amount due.
The prerequisite for the IMU, its own municipal tax, is the possession of the property located in Italy by title of ownership or other real right. The IMU is also payable by non-residents who own properties in the State.
Main homes and related appurtenances are exempt from IMU tax (except in the case of luxury properties).
