Dear President,
After in-depth discussion, the Board of Directors of the Order deems it useful and appropriate to draw the kind attention of the SV to the obvious inconsistencies in the assessments made by the competent regional structures on the merits of pharmaceutical spending in the Local Health Authority of Taranto. open letter pharmaceutical expenditure
With the necessary premise that the topic is the subject of constant and always constructive discussion between the undersigned Order, in its prerogative as a subsidiary body of the Ministry of Health, the company Strategic Management, the trade union organizations and the active citizenship bodies, badly it is understandable why, from what we learn, in the aforementioned evaluations it seems that purely accounting criteria are mainly, if not exclusively, adopted, without taking into account the particular epidemiological characteristics of the territory.
Based on the latter, data emerge on the prevalence of chronic pathologies which, if compared to other regional realities, even see the Ionian province in credit of resources rather than in excess spending, essentially resulting in a greater economic commitment not only for pharmaceuticals, but also for the set of greater healthcare services necessary for the appropriate care of patients, in particular the most problematic ones.
It is worth remembering that these prevalence data are also recognized and attested in at least two DGRPs (for example DGR no. 688 of 06.20.2022 and DGR no. 1707 of 11.29.2023), while they are apparently completely ignored in the discussions recently opened on the issue with the Company and trade union representatives.
Furthermore, it should not be forgotten that Taranto and its province, as you are surely aware, still suffer from structural deficiencies which have a heavy impact on the healthcare provision, which maintains acceptable levels for citizens only thanks to the constant commitment of healthcare workers and strategic corporate bodies at every level.
Given the above, we hope for the authoritative and decisive intervention of Your Lordships, also in your current capacity as head of the relevant Dicastery, for a correct review of the entire problem, as stated here.
While awaiting your kind reply, we send you our warmest regards.
For the Board of Directors of the Order
President
Dr Cosimo Nume
