CONFCOMMERCIO VENETO TO THE REGION: REMOVE THE BAN ON PROMOTIONAL SALES BEFORE THE SALES
Lift the ban on promotional sales in the 30 days preceding the sales; which, vice versa, can be confirmed to first Saturday of JulyFor summer oneset al first working day before the feast of the Epiphany, for winter skiers.
This is what is requested by Italian Fashion Federation of Veneto to the Region with a letter signed by President Riccardo Capitanio and sent last Friday to the Councilor for Economic Development Roberto Marcato as well as to the Industry, Crafts, Commerce and Services Directorate. The request was resolved at the trade meeting held on May 6th.
“With regards to the start date of the sales – we read in the letter – the Council expressed its opinion in favor of maintaining the current regulations”. The dates in force, however, “they must be applied in a context of territorial homogeneity at a national level”to guarantee transparency and correct competitiveness between different Regions.
However, as regards promotional sales, “the Council expressed its opinion in favor of eliminating the ban on the same in the 30 days before the start of the sales”.
“In fact – explains Capitanio – especially in recent years the situation has changed profoundly and it is undeniable that the discounts, mainly towards the most well-known and loyal customers, already take place before the sales, without there being any particular controls. Our sector has gone through better times than the current one: removing the ban on promotional sales would give a boost to consumption, especially helping local shops, those in our historic centreswho are often less organized than large companies in promoting discounts”.
President Capitanio concludes: “We believe that keeping the sales as they are, with the related advertising in the shop windows, and liberalizing sales the month before, is a good compromise. All of this, however, despite the fact that online sales remain completely free for everyone, at any time.”
