Following the approval by the relevant Ministries of the definitive project for the reorganization of the 150 kV electricity grid in the municipalities of San Procopio, Sinopoli and Melicuccà of the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria, Terna publishes the notice containing the areas potentially affected by the intervention. This was reported in a company press release.

“The structural modernization project of the electricity grid in the area, for which the company led by Giuseppina Di Foggia will invest over 3 million euros – it is said in the press release – will guarantee greater operational reliability and environmental sustainability thanks to the reduction of the on the territory of existing airlines. Furthermore, the work will allow greater exploitation of the additional energy, also made available through the completion of the 380 kV ‘Sorgente – Rizziconi’ submarine connection, thus guaranteeing more efficient coverage of the area’s needs”.

In detail, Terna will build a new overhead power line of approximately 4 kilometres, called “San Procopio – Palmi Sud”, thanks to which it will be possible to demolish the entire 150 kV “Scilla – San Procopio” connection 14 kilometers long and a section of 11 kilometers of the 150 kV “Palmi Sud – Scilla” power line.

Overall, over 25 kilometers of power lines will therefore be removed for a total of 74 supports and 75 hectares of land freed, of which approximately 80% fall within the “Costa Viola” Special Protection Area which hosts marine and terrestrial habitats rich in biodiversity .

“Terna plans to begin construction work in 2025 – the press release continues – once all the preparatory phases for the opening of the construction sites have been completed. The owners of the parcels affected by the works can view the project documentation in the municipalities of San Procopio, Sinopoli and Melicuccà and at Terna’s headquarters”.
