SThe press conference for the official presentation of the second edition of Run for, conceived and organized by ASD Foggia Running, in collaboration with the Association, took place on Saturday 11 May, at 11 am, in the Sala Rosa of the Palazzetto dell’Arte in Foggia. CerBelli and with US Foggia-SNA Athletics.
After the great success achieved at the first edition, the ASD Foggia Running association has decided to aim high and this year the competition, which aims to promote physical activity and correct and healthy lifestyles, was included in the federal national calendar of bronze level 10km races. Runners and walkers from all over Italy have met in Foggia on May 19th starting from 9:00 am in Villa Comunale. Thanks to the orographic peculiarities of the city which will allow running on an entirely flat route and the long straights of the large city avenues, runners will have the opportunity to improve their seasonal performances. Times which, thanks to the approval of the route by the federation, will be certified by Fidal.
The press conference was attended by, among others, the president of the ASD Foggia Running Association, Gaetano Spagnuolothe Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Foggia, Domenico Di Molfettathe councilor for Legality, Giulio De Santis, the councilor for Productive Activities, Lorenzo Frattarolo, the provincial delegate of CONI, Renato De Martinothe provincial delegate of Fidal, Romeo Tiger, the president of the CerBelli Association, Lucia Melchiorre, and the representatives of the 11th Engineer Regiment, the adjutant sergeant major Rega and Lieutenant Colonel Hope.
“We are convinced that giving life to large-scale sporting events can only be good for Foggia and the people of Foggia who must learn to appreciate the many positive things that are often underestimated due to lack of knowledge – said Spagnuolo -. The idea of having these two events coincide, the national race, run by professional athletes, and the walk for families and children, was born from our firm desire to promote correct and healthy lifestyles. We are firmly convinced that active citizenship, even from a physical point of view, can only improve the health of individuals and the health of the community”
“It is a beautiful event of which the municipal administration is proud and happy – declared Di Molfetta -. The Prima Vera sports program is dead rich and this is one of the important events, considering the high number of participants which will exceed 1500. In my capacity also as a national councilor of Fidal I can tell you about the satisfaction of having received at the beginning of the year the candidacy of our city. The hope and wish that I share with the ASD Foggia Running Association and its valid President are to bring an Italian championship right here in Foggia”.
“The Run for Fun, the non-competitive 5km walk, has been renamed ‘Walk for Legality and Inclusion’ and is an initiative that is part of the 100 days of Legality and the fight against mafias, strongly desired by the administration municipal. On this occasion we invite citizens to participate by taking many steps together with us to reiterate that a different city can be achieved with respect for legality and social inclusion. Being a community mainly means this”, commented De Santis.
Due to its high social impact, this year too “Run for” received important patronage: Presidency of the Puglia Region Council, Municipality of Foggia, University of Foggia, Chamber of Commerce of Foggia, Fondazione Capitanata per lo Sport, Coni Puglia, Fidal Provincial Committee Foggia and Army.
The commercial partners who supported the event were also numerous and prestigious, among them, in addition to important local brands, also multinationals and companies listed on the stock exchange.
Inside the municipal villa and along the entire route there will be speakers, entertainment and lots of music to encourage and cheer up the participants during the competition. Everyone has a good reason to run or walk: to get fit, improve physical fitness, or simply for the pleasure of being together.
