On the wave of the enthusiasm and excellent success of the 2022 and 2023 editions, the G returns to Forlì
In the wake of the enthusiasm and excellent success of the 2022 and 2023 editions, the GIRO D’ITALIA DELLE PALLIATIVE PEDIATRIC CARE returns to Forlì, the national event, promoted by the Maruzza Lefebvre D’Ovidio Ets Foundation, in which the various territorial centers of Pediatric Palliative Care (CPP) organize sports/leisure/scientific events locally to raise awareness among the population and spread the culture of pediatric palliative care.
The fundamental message that the event aims to convey is that pediatric palliative care is not terminal care, but includes all those actions (healthcare and otherwise) that aim to improve the quality of life of children with chronic incurable illnesses and their families throughout their existence.
This year’s Forlì initiative, entitled “FORLÌ STAGE OF THE GIRO D’ITALIA OF PEDIATRIC PALLIATIVE CARE 2024”, is organized by the Clinic for Children with High Care Complexity Pathologies (BAC), which supports CPPs in Forlì with an approach of integration between Hospital, Territory and Home Care. On Sunday 19 May, at 5pm, at the private park with public access “BRN Village” in Forlimpopoli (FC), a recreational-informative event themed “Each to his own “node – Together we are a network” will be held. with the presentation of all the actors who operate in the pediatric palliative care network of the Emilia Romagna region in the Forlì area, involving the Community Paediatrics directed by Dr. Giovanna Rita Indorato, the Child Neuropsychiatry directed by Dr. Mariella Allegretti, the Hospital Pediatrics Unit directed by Dr. Enrico Valletta and all other hospital and non-hospital services that revolve around the patient. Operators in the health and social care sectors will be supported by the passion and creativity of the “Vip Forlì odv”, “Wheelchair basket Forlì” and “Heart4Children APS” associations with the related volunteers who work at the Mattoncinoteca4All in Forlimpopoli.
“Pediatric palliative care – explains Dr. Lucia Marangio, head of the BAC Clinic – has the objective of guaranteeing the best quality of life for children suffering from pathologies with High Care Complexity, taking care of their needs in a global way, ensuring the best care, including at home, through network care. The children and their families await this moment of celebration with great enthusiasm, to meet their doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists, health assistants, educators, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, health professionals, administrative staff, teachers and specialists various, outside the usual “walls” … and they really appreciate our crossing the threshold of the usual (and obviously necessary) places of assistance and care. This can bring us ever closer to them and to the concrete implementation of the principles underlying pediatric palliative care. “
