The parade will start at 9am from Corso Cossiga and continue through the streets of the center (Garibaldi hemicycle, Via Brigata Sassari, Via Cagliari, Borgone and Crispo porticoes, Piazza d’Italia) up to Via Roma. Over two thousand people in traditional dress parade through the streets of the center with gold, jewels and typical local products, including breads and sweets which are true works of art. At the start of the procession, the Carabinieri on horseback and in full uniform and the drummers of the city groups.
This year the folk groups, bearers of cultures, traditions, belonging, pride and memories, will parade in alphabetical order, interspersed with Sardinian mask rituals of uncertain origins: the Thurpos of Orotelli, the Mamutzones of Samugheo, Sos Colonganos of Austis, Mamuthones and Isohadores “Atzeni” from Mamoiada and Sos Merdules Betzos from Ottana. Followed by the 120 women in traditional dress representing all the territories of Sardinia and closing the procession is the historic Orsa Siata Spring 1968 car (the only Italian car produced in Sardinia, in Cagliari) which symbolically “links” the previous editions of the Sardinian Cavalcade with the one whose 73rd edition is honored today. The event ends with the impressive procession made up of 170 horses and the parade of 25 couples on horseback.
