Today, Sunday 12 May, is World Red Nose Day and this year too the volunteer clowns of the associations belonging to the ‘VIP – ViviamoInPositivo Italia ODV’ federation have taken to the streets to promote their mission of joy with entertainment, information and and awareness, but also to raise funds for the many projects carried out by the federation itself. In Bari, since the early hours of this morning, volunteers have animated Piazza del Ferrarese with a series of activities: story-telling moments, games, bubble shows, face painting, music and baby dance. All initiatives that will continue until late afternoon, with the stop set at 8pm.

“This is the spirit of us clowns – explained the volunteers -. Giving to each other and sharing difficulties in a different way than usual. A colored coat, a red nose, glasses and colored clothes, the magic of soap bubbles that for a few moments make gray hospital wards, discomfort, fears and difficulties disappear to bring out the joy of the child who lives in the hearts of all of us” . Founded in Turin in the 90s, the VIP Italia ODV federation today connects 72 VIP associations throughout the national territory, with around 4,700 specially trained clown volunteers who commit themselves weekly to bringing smiles to more than 200 hospital facilities in Italy.
