PADUA – What is more “territorial” than food, hospitality, wine, than what is summarized in the modern English term “agrifood“? It is the most authentic expression of the “local”, of the peculiar abilities of a land and a people to offer a “taste” of centuries of cultural, technological and human evolution. And yet today there is nothing more “global” than agrifood: any food, any wine travels anywhere in the world and people from all over the world come to Veneto to enjoy the hospitality that this land can offer. To take stock of the complex search for balance between territoriality and globalization in this fundamental sector also due to the economic weight it has acquired, Il Gazzettino in collaboration with Confindustria Veneto Est and Banco BPM has organized Tuesday 14 May starting at 5.30 pm, in the Rossini Room of the historic Pedrocchi café in Paduathe first of a series of events entitled “The Veneto that produces”.
We start on Tuesday with agrifood, a sector in which Veneto offers excellence known throughout the world and production niches that have all the makings of expanding their markets. The objective is to give voice to the potential, problems and solutions useful for making the needs of companies and producers central. The focus will be on technological innovation and the “green” revolution, access to credit, the needs of the labor market, the transformations of the rural landscape and the outcome of agriculture 4.0, the problems of logistics and Italian and EU regulations. To help us intercept future trends and identify obstacles and solutions, Il Gazzettino has called some experts and protagonists from the Veneto region which produces and contributes decisively to the prestige of Made in Italy. The director Roberto Papetti and the editor-in-chief Ario Gervasutti will dialogue and discuss the strength of Smart Agrifood with the president of Confindustria Veneto Est and national vice-president Leopold Rightand with the manager of the Verona and Northeast Territorial Management of Banco BPM, Alberto Melotti. This will be followed by an interview with Marina Montedoro, Director of Coldiretti and president of the UNESCO Colline del Prosecco Foundation. Two teachers will make their contribution to the panel on research and training, prof. Damiana Tervilli, director of the ITS Academy agri-food Veneto and prof. Gianni Barcaccia, director of the Agronomy department of the University of Padua. The conclusions will be collected by two important names in the Veneto Agrifood world: the oenologist and producer Fausto Maculan and the owner of the famous Harry’s bar in Venice Arrigo Cipriani. The event will be broadcast live on the website www.gazzettino.it.
