An event that alone will not be enough to revive the fortunes of the city’s heart in crisis, but which certainly increases its heartbeat by sending a signal of vitality. Another positive edition for ‘The center blooms again in May’: music, shows and street food were the protagonists yesterday from afternoon until late evening, with shops open and lots of people under the clock and in the main squares of the city.

“A shopping festival to enhance the historic center starting from shops, commercial activities, merchants and associations with initiatives, exhibitions and offers – comments mayor Marco Panieri –. One week before the Formula 1 Grand Prix, Imola is ready. And its historic center is also the protagonist, becoming a real natural outdoor living room”.

On the day of ‘The center flourishes in May’, there was also the inauguration of the two ‘Virginia-Alta Pasticceria’ activities, led by the young and talented Virginia Consigli, a twenty-year-old Tuscan student of the master pastry chef Iginio Massari. First the ribbon cutting with toasts and free tastings in the boutique at number 75 of via Emilia 75, then an afternoon of celebrations with music and aperitifs in the cafeteria of via Appia 32, in the premises of the former Costanzi bar.

The epicenter of the party, however, was in Piazza Matteotti, where Moreno il Biondo and Romagna 2.0 arrived in the late afternoon for a journey into Italian popular dance music. In the evening, here is the show with Paolo Ruffini, back as a protagonist again in Imola, presented by the Sky presenters, Federica Masolin and Mara Sangiorgio, historical faces of F1 on TV. Street food from local farms is also operational.

In the nearby Piazza Gramsci, however, lots of live music first with the singing duo ‘Nikica’ and then with DJ Max Vasselli. Protagonist notes also took place in Piazza Medaglie d’Oro, where the Monnalisa Cafè presented ‘Monna-Lisa Manara’, a guitar and voice concert to relive the songs of the great Italian and non-Italian singer-songwriters. And again, from afternoon to evening, Piazza Caduti per la Libertà came alive thanks to artistic gymnastics performances, while Piazza Mirri was transformed into a living room full of initiatives.
